Wedding Feature in Elegant Wedding Magazine Spring 2020

March 11, 2020

Last summer in late July, we had the pleasure to work with Samantha who definitely tops our list as one of the sweetest clients we’ve worked with! Our hair and makeup team travelled to Oakville to get Sam and her bridal party ready for her big day. The ceremony was taking place at St. Andrew Church, where Sam would arrive in her grandfather’s ‘61 Thunderbird. The reception would then take place in downtown Toronto, at the gorgeous boutique hotel venue, One King West. Samantha is also a talented jewelry designer, and designed her wedding bands, and bridal party’s jewelry as well! You can check out her work here.

We were so excited to hear that the wedding was finally featured in last month’s issue of Elegant Wedding magazine and wanted to share it with everyone! Weddings truly take a village to plan and execute, and we absolutely love seeing everything come together so beautifully. Congratulations again Samantha and Brad! We can’t wait to glam you up again soon!

Vintage Looks for Ricarda’s Toronto Launch

November 1, 2019

Back in the Summer of 2016, we were hired by a marketing agency to help piece together vintage looks for the restaurant launch of Ricarda’s in Toronto. The agency was using a street team of promotional models to boost the restaurant launch for a two day event where the street teams rode bikes through the city. Two hair and two makeup artists were needed for the styling for the street team activation which was a 50’s and 60’s vintage Mediterranean inspired look.

Here are some of the beauty tips we used to keep the street team looks sweat-proof and last through the summer heat all day long:

  • Hair was set in pins to cool while makeup was completed to really hold the vintage wave

  • We used Urban Decay All Nighter setting sprat before, during and after application to be sure the makeup wouldn’t nudge

  • Quick Lip Tip – hydrate lips with a rich balm prior to any makeup application. Let the balm sit and once the lips are ready, apply a primer first then line the lips with a red liner for definition and proceed with lipstick, blot and repeat

  • Flash lashes were used for a doe eyed look

We had so much fun using our creativity putting together these looks for the street team activation! The restaurant has been a huge success since the launch with another location opened in Oakville. If you’re a marketing agency or promotional model company, we help create the looks to make your event and models stand out! We provide makeup, hair and wardrobe support for any of your events or activations. To learn more about our on demand beauty services, contact us at info@thebeautyteam.ca.

Ouai at Field Trip – How to Create Gorgeous Hairstyles for Music Festivals

June 21, 2019

Tips for creating festival-ready looks from The Beauty Team’s mobile makeup and hairstyling experts.

Everyone wants to look their best at a music festival, which is why a lot of people go all out when it comes to their festival hair, makeup and fashion. Who doesn’t want to have their photo taken for a fashion blog or recap of the best looks from the event?

That being said, not everyone arrives ready for the camera…

The Beauty Team was recently enlisted to provide on-site hairstyling at Toronto’s Field Trip music festival. Sephora and Ouai Haircare asked us to join them for an on-site brand activation. We provided 12 hair stylists to demo several Ouai products at a hairstyling station on the festival grounds. We treated festival attendees to complimentary braids, sleek styles, ponytails and waves, showing them how to use the Ouai products to get the perfect festival look. We used Ouai’s dry shampoo, soft and medium hairsprays, texture spray and body oil.

Here are a few festival hairstyling tips we shared at Field Trip that you can use next time you’re enjoying some live music in the sun:

  • To create chic, just-back-from-the-beach waves, use a texturizing spray like Ouai Haircare’s Wave Spray. Spritz onto damp or dry hair, scrunch and go!
  • Keep braids looking sleek by taming fly-aways and baby hairs with a small amount of pomade like Ouai Haircare Matte Pomade. Use your fingers to apply pomade where it’s needed most and be sure not to overdo it—a little goes a long way!
  • Double-duty products are always a great idea especially when you have limited space in your bag at the festival. That’s why we love Ouai Haircare’s Rose Hair and Body Oil. You can use it to tame fly-aways and keep your skin glowing and smelling great too!

Try these tips for your next festival look (or anytime look!).

Conair Infiniti Pro Straightener – Pro or No?

March 6, 2017

image1Our hair expert and OUAI Canadian Educator, Alysse, tested out the Conair Infiniti Pro Straightener and we just had to ask her about it!

Here are her answers:

Q: What are your favourite features of this product?

A: The number one thing was that it heated up quickly and was simple to use! I personally loved how it left some movement in my hair as opposed to making it pin straight and lifeless. My models also loved how it didn’t pull and made their hair feel silky and shiny.

Q: Who would you recommend this product to?

A: I would recommend this product to a variety of hair types however, if you have very kinky roots this product is not for you. The straightener doesn’t get close enough to smooth them out. I would say the target market is the girl on-the-go. It heats up quickly and smooths out hair giving you a polished look in minutes.

Q: Would you use this on a daily basis?

A: I would definitely use this on a daily basis. It’s always good to have easy-to-use products on hand to make mornings less stressful! Not to mention, if it makes my models happy I really can’t complain!

Q: Overall, do you give this product your stamp of approval?

A: Yes! It surprised me. I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did! I would definitely recommend trying the Conair Infiniti Pro Straightener.

Thanks Alysse!

If you’re always on-the-go but don’t want to sacrifice your beauty routine, the Conair Pro Infiniti straightener may be the perfect tool to add to your belt.

Try it out and let us know what you think of the Conair Infiniti Pro Straightener!

Celebrity Hair & Makeup Artist Paul Venoit for Batiste Dry Shampoo

May 1, 2015

Dry shampoo is a must have when it comes to 2nd day hair or when you want to add more volume to the roots for styling and updos. One of our favourite’s is Batiste – the #1 selling dry shampoo in Canada- has quickly become a staple in our kits for clients or in our personal collection for us wherever we go.

Batiste-dry-shampoo

Batiste recently partnered up with celebrity Hair and Makeup artist Paul Venoit (you may remember him from the Canadian shows such as Look–A–Like and Canada’s Next Top Model). Paul’s vibrant personality and years of experience, make him the perfect fit to act as a brand ambassador for Batiste—the fun and playful dry shampoo brand, hailing from the UK.

Batiste is a fun and playful dry shampoo brand, hailing from the UK. We love it because it gives you a break from washing and blow-drying your hair, which can cause breakage and fade professional colouring. The starch-based product with a no water-needed formula is suitable for every hair type and now has colored tones to match your hair. The dry shampoos come in normal (white), light, medium and dark shades. Just a quick spray on each side of your hair towards to roots will remove oils, leaving the hair clean and fresh.

#BEAUTYNOTE

Shake your can of Batiste vigorously, separate hair into sections and spray into roots in quick short sprays holding can 10-12 inches away from hair. Leave for a few moments and massage through. Brush out any excess. For extra texture and body don’t brush out!

The range of Batiste dry shampoos are endless and you really can’t go wrong with any. If you haven’t tried them yet, we really encourage that you do.

Batiste dry shampoo is available at drug stores like Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall and Walmart.
